As I was walking into my batting cage, I stumbled over a tennis ball that my dog used to play with. Remembering that we got him from a breeder in Crosby, Texas.

My dog Skeeter is a Cairn terrier. Skeeter is only six years old now but at the time of the story he was three. This dog has wiry hair that gets very dirty very easily. There is still so much energy left in him. Blind and diabetic he will still go outside in the rain, lightning, and thunder just to chase the thunder because he thinks it is fireworks. Skeet has cataracts in his eyes now.

One thing Skeeter does is he gets very rowed up when we rough house. First he starts barking, growling, and jumping around. Jason [my dad] and I were practicing football in the back yard Skeeter was out there. As my dad was pushing me Skeeter was getting rowed up. The dog was barking and jumping around he was pouncing in and out. I think he was trying to protect me but since he was blind he bit the wrong person and that was me. Hopefully he was trying to bite my dad but instead bit me. Falling to the ground after the bite I was screaming. Jay was mad so he threw a football at him, but it missed. Dad got Skeeter by the collar and put him in his kennel. Thinking to myself how bad I bet Skeeter was scared. I went in to the garage where the kennel was. And Skeeter was sitting there whining. I walked up to him and he licked my finger like he was trying to say I’m sorry. I turned to see the bite mark. It had cut through my shorts and left a bruise. Now I don’t play football so he doesn’t get real rowdy. Looking at him I could tell that he still loved me. A couple of days later my dad said he could be let out of the cage. So I ran out there and unhooked his kennel. Of course he was licking my face and jumping on me he was so excited. He is ok now a little more lazy but ok.
